T O P I C R E V I E WBrightStar23Seeing as an asteroid's meaning is often determined by the way the word is perceived in our society at this present time. I decided to write an article on what "Valentine" brings up in our collective consciousness. I hope you enjoy Valentine - What does this word make us think of?Valentines Day of course! A day where everybody on the globe is bombarded with hallmark card "romance". Husbands grab a bunch of flowers at a service station to avoid getting glared at by their wives. Millions of single people feel more aware of being alone than ever. While "happy couples" show off their bunches of flowers and stuffed teddy bears... Is this what love really is? Being forced to be romantic?Or is Valentine trying to show us something different? Like the desperate young man who puts 30 roses in the locker of the girl he loves - even though he has no guarantee that she will give him one back- Valentine shows us the part of ourselves which is willing to sacrifice for love. But it also shows the kind of love bound by duty. Like the bored couple that eat at a restaurant " because its "Valentines Day" - and yet have nothing to say to eachother. What does Valentine mean to me? Well it's something of the two. I know the pain of being bound by duty - a love that is almost impossible to walk away from, but deep down one knows it is holding them back from their true happiness. Like the perpetual "Valentines day" one puts on an act of love because one has to. I also know the maddening obsession of loving someone hopelessly and irrationally, The kind of love where you would do anything for the person but forget yourself completely, you lose yourself, your highest destiny, all because this "special" person has such a hold on you.And while these two senarios seem to be opposite - I actually believe Valentine is trying to teach us the same lesson. - That you can only Love someone else, if you truly, truly love yourself. You have to love your dreams and passions, your strengths and your weaknesses, you have to be able to look into your own eyes and know you will honor and commit to yourself- no matter what. But most of all you have to love your own heart - and everything, (and I mean everything!) it has been through. Only then can you deeply love someone else- and be deeply loved in return.True Love is not selfish, or self sacrificial, - It is meant to set both your souls free. It is the paradox of a deep, unconditional, passionate love and the freedom to let the person you love be all that they can be- whether it involves you or not. True love does not smother or push away - It trusts. When two people are truly happy with themselves, their life, their connection to the universe... and fall in love at THAT frequency - it is an indescribable magic- This is the true" twinflame love". Two equal, whole, passionate souls- by law of attraction- attract an equal, whole passionate Love. Valentine shows us in our chart where we easily and selflessly give love to another person- Which is a wonderful essential thing!! However in order for the positive attributes of Valentine to be present in our lives. We must also give that same unconditional love - to ourselves.Happy Love People! CeridwenI like your essay in general, but I disagree with Valentine being "bound by duty".But then again maybe it is simply different in Germany. Noone here is really "forced" to celebrate Valentine`s day.Furthermore I simply haven`t seen it yet to play out like this in synastry. As for anything else in yuor essay Ami AnneBright I am so blown away by your wisdom. Thank you for it, Darling ------------------Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/BrightStar23Thankyou for reading Ami and Ceri! xAnd yes I definitely know what you are saying Ceri. I did recently notice strong Valentine aspects in a couple of charts of people who wanted to leave their partner, but felt like they couldn't - But my research is very limited. This is more an observation of what the word "Valentine" conjures up at this present time - Most think of "Valentines Day". Some see this as a day to celebrate Love in all its forms and embrace it, others celebrate it halfheartedly because they feel like they should - and I also know those who choose not to celebrate it because they see it as a "fake romance day". I just wanted to explore some of these sides of the word Valentine and see what positive lessons it can teach us. However, Astrology is an ever evolving science. One can put several old ideas together to come up with new ones. This is the way for any exploration of anything. Things are not static such as we have to do it the way it was always done. Asteroids are an even more fertile ground as they are in the discovery stage. Explore on, Friend. Valentine - What does this word make us think of?
Valentines Day of course! Being forced to be romantic?
Or is Valentine trying to show us something different?
Like the desperate young man who puts 30 roses in the locker of the girl he loves - even though he has no guarantee that she will give him one back- Valentine shows us the part of ourselves which is willing to sacrifice for love.

And while these two senarios seem to be opposite - I actually believe Valentine is trying to teach us the same lesson.

True Love is not selfish, or self sacrificial, - It is meant to set both your souls free. It is the paradox of a deep, unconditional, passionate love and the freedom to let the person you love be all that they can be- whether it involves you or not.
True love does not smother or push away - It trusts.
